If only I could collect clouds…
This bright green work of art captivates with its 17,7 inch long, oval glass body, whose shape evokes the organically curved hull of a ship. The outer glass surface resembles a painted lake. Thanks to its clarity and brilliant color, it exudes an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
Looking inside, a whimsical world unfolds: small, airy formations seem to rest gently on the bottom of the vessel. As if someone had gathered clouds and carefully preserved them here. This dreamlike scene brings a smile to my face. Does it bring one to yours, too?
Technique:
Two very different types of glass combined:
The outer glass body was crafted from blown glass on the glassblower’s pipe, and the oval glass body was then opened up and ground into a wavy shape. The “glass clouds” inside are made of borosilicate glass and were crafted using a torch. Both the glass clouds and the inner surface of the outer glass body are painted in metallic lime green and silver. The clouds are set in a bed of green-colored air-dry clay.
